Baths, pommies and dirty French men

Happy Easter all!
mea culpa. Not a single update since hitting the shores of London. Sorry!
It’s been an interesting time here in London alternating between James’ lounge and Ren’s apartment.
The first weekend we hired a car and I drove the 3 of us up to Cardiff and Bath. We crashed the night in Bath at the YMCA and hit a bar called Revolution, whose tag line is “We love vodka.” Bath’s a beautiful little town and much to my surprise has a thriving young community thanks to the University of Bath.
Avoiding Stone Henge we weaved through Avebury on the way home so Ren could chase sheep and we could check out the mystical stones. Unfortunately I missed saying hello to Ian Lloyd—I had no idea he lived in the area. After the stones we stopped by at a local country inn for a Sunday roast lunch (yorkshire pudding and all) and lost almost 2 hours in the warm and friendly atmosphere.
Some of my favourite travel moments on this trip have been discovering these local establishments, sitting back with a beer or wine and soaking in the local food and culture.
James also uploaded his photos of our adventure.
The weekend after Bath Ren and I caught an overnight coach to France where we stayed for two days and one night. Arriving with few expectations, our tempting taste of the language and culture has me totally addicted and I’d love to spend some significant time there in the future. We did all the regular stuff—the Eiffel Tower and Siene—as well as just sitting back and enjoying a much awaited cup of great coffee. We really are spoilt with good coffee in Sydney, the Americans and Poms have to put up with bitter bubbly blah.
The easter long weekend took Rhiannon and I to Italy, but save saying that it was amazing I’ll leave the details for another post.
I’ve 8 more days here in London, 4 nights in Thailand and then back home to my most-missed friends!

Yeah, Bath rocks. Elly and Simon and I all studied there for 4 years—it’s a great little town. If you like local pubs and stuff, next time you go near there go to The Crown at Bathford, it’s got great food and a nice atmosphere.

I miss you Dog, come home soon. All of you adventures sound awesome and I look forward to the spoken word version of the tales. See you soon hombre.
Maxine
Awwwwwww, we miss you too! So much so that the next time we see you we’re going to put you in a humidicrib so you can never go away again…...mwaaahaahaaahaaaaaa!

Meri: Ah that’s right, I remember somebody mentioning you studied there. So you were a studious uni bod? Bath Uni seems quite prestigious and demanding.
Who knows when I’ll be back on this side of the planet, though I have a sneaking suspicion that with so many friends over here, as well as all you web design nuts, it won’t be too long.
Ryan: You can look forward to the beeboppin low down on the how down version, fo shizzle! But, is it posible to rap to acoustic guitar?
Maxine: (and for my first ever, oh-so-lame haiku)

Romantic Paris What could possibly spoil it? Oh, my messy hair!

Errrr … this thing didn’t recognise line-breaks, so my haiku structure will have to go unappreciated :(
Tim Lucas
Dons: I know, it doesn’t feel like very long ago. German present? Have I forgotten something? No visits to Germany this trip I’m afraid.
Cameron: Nice mr Haiku master. Yeah I noticed that when I posted mine (and then I cheated and changed the DB directly). I’ll fix it soon enough.
Don dons
ok so the german present went along the lines of this: “hey don dons, want any kind of present from overseas?” “oh i don’t know, so many things to choose from!” “well how about i get you something naughty – which country would you like it to involve?” don dons:”well, i do have a weakness for lederhosen”. tim: “alright, german it is!”....ringing any bells? alex is (hopefully) also to remind you….am sure you can get it outside of germany, should you happen upon the right place….
Gav
of course it’s possible to rap to acoustic guitar. have you not heard my acoustic version of “Ice Ice Baby” and “Fresh Prince of Belair”?!
Tim Lucas
Yeah, I’m still waiting for the gavcooney.com podcast…
