4 days til departure

It’s only four days to go until I leave for my trip to the US and London!
Friday morning I get on a flight to LAX where I’m stuck at the airport for 5 hours before getting a direct flight to Austin Texas.
In Austin will be the ever-so-cool SXSW that’ll have over twelve thousand people in total, three thousand of which will be at the interactive part of the festival which I’ll be going to. Every night there’s half a dozen events held by people like Google and Yahoo… along with other random stuff like bowling tournaments and a huge Ruby on Rails gathering thanks to Austin on Rails.
On the 15th Lisa, Maxine, Amit and I fly to Las Vegas staying at the oh-so-classy Rio All Suites for two nights, then we jump in a car and drive from Vegas to San Francisco via Yosemite National Park and Death Valley. I’ve been told to expect snow in Yosemite—ouch!
After two nights in San Fran hanging with geeks, Maxine and I fly to New York for 4 nights and then I’m off to London for a month to spend with Ren, Jamse, Jane and Anna.
No concrete plans for London yet, but will probably go to Venice and Rome over Easter and to Belgium, France and Spain the other weekends.
I’ll be taking my camera and ibook, so unless something dies, you can expect some regular coverage of all the adventures right here on toolmantim.com

hey t-dawg! i can’t believe it’s nearly been a month since i was talking to you!!! slacker me! your trip sounds so exciting!!! i plan to call you before you jet off, so try not to leave the country until then….however, should my schedule not be able to accommodate you (not for lack of trying!), have a blast! and get ready for the major major catchup upon your return! xx

and hopefully we can meet up in london on that one day we cross over – we can have coffee at the airport or something?
other wise there will be over 4 months with no tim and al time! not good!

Don: thanks! phew I’m just getting ready for the trip… but ya telling me I have to get ready for the big return!? You’re going to have to find an excuse to come back to Sydney for a weekend ya know.
Al: would you like that post card hand delivered by the king himself… in a rhinestone encrusted outfit? Yeah I really hope we cross paths in London. Currently my flight departs from london on the night of the 28th April. When do you arrive?

Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to push up a new design before leaving… its still sitting in Illustrator. Maybe if I’m bored in London… who knows.

Well, you’re welcome to come stay—just drop me an email. There’s a fast train that goes from Kings Cross in central London all the way to Newcastle. Takes about 3 hours I think. So let us know! Also, if you are going to be travelling in the UK a lot, it might be worth investigating a Britrail pass: http://www.raileurope.com/us/rail/passes/uk_index.htm
