Love is All

March 26, 2006 11:04 (New York USA)

San Francisco Skyline

I had a great 2 nights in San Francisco—the city definitely has some great character. Amazingly, and against all odds, I hardly made any purchases, though I did mosey around helping Amit to spend the last of his travel budget.

I’m now in New York and I’ve been ice skating in Central Park with Cam, seen ground zero and gawked at Monet and way too many other famous artists at the Museum of Modern art. The bars here are good but almost a little too comfortable—sometimes you just want something a little more different and out of your comfort zone. Rudy’s is an awesome little place down in Hell’s Kitchen which has a nice mixture of sports-bar-like-dags, friendly bar girls, New York hipsters and meandering gimps.

Gotham leering

Maxine and I, the cool hipsters that we are, rocked up to The Knitting Factory for an 11:30pm gig on Friday night. After a few beers in the small bar we entered in line where “Love is All” fans exchanged Archie comics and compared old-school poo-brown jackets, only to discover that it was completely sold out. With egos shattered we parked our asses in the bar next to the door and listened to them bang out supposed “le tigre like” tracks. Though the security guard kindly offered us entry for a nominal “fee” we opted for the ten buck CD, had one last drink and called it a night.

Two more days in this freezing cold city and then I’m off to London to see those crazy cats. Though my comprade is supposedly too “cool” for Coyote Ugly I’m trying to drag her sorry butt over there for Lisa’s short NY rendezvous. Hopefully I should have more entertaining photos to post.

Ice skating, Coyote Ugly … Max is way too cool for living.

heeey tim! sounds like you’re having a blast! got your postcard – thanks a bunch! am now awaiting the rest of your forwarding mail… and p.s. for future reference, my surname is not “hornbag”! [but it gave me (and probably the mailman!) a good chuckle…]

Hrrrm, yes, ice skating almost made the cut. Actually the true reason I didn’t do it was because I couldn’t possibly have withstood the inevitable flickring along with “ice bitch” tagging. But dancing on bars, at least anywhere outside Saigon in 1972, is most definitely never going to be cool :-) Trust me.

You danced on bars in Saigon in 1972?
