Day one and one and one and one
March 11, 2006 11:27 (Austin USA)
After a full day in transit with only 15 minutes of sleep, and still having all night to party, yesterday seems like a blur—my sense of time was completely out of whack.
After seeing the sunrise a few hours off the coast of LA we finally landed at 6am, ending our 13 hours in the air.
Austin is completely different to what I thought. It’s kind of like a Brisbane, but trashier (hey, this is Texas we’re talkin about).
According to the desk we managed to score a room with a view.
By the looks of it Cam and I have a good chance of witnessing a shooting, or at least a robbery or two.
Just walking around here makes you feel soft—imagine a rough country queensland town; add a tattoo parlour on every corner, a few hundred saloon style bars, massive friggin pickup trucks and five thousand party go-ers.
Well I’m off to the first session: How to be a webdesign superhero.

Mum
What a view, a cement jungle, the hum of the traffic must be good too. Looks like Jo’s car could fit under that pick up truck. Looking forward to seeing your superhero webdesigned cape. Luv your mum xx
Cameron Adams
I’m witnessing a car jacking right now!
James Hill
No way… are you serious?
Tim Lucas
Mum: I had to leave the cape at home for fear of revealing my identity. It turns out though that I’m sharing my room with a superhero (according to Andy Budd), so maybe I can play some sort of side-kick role?
James: Yep, it was Amit stealing a pink F250 .

classic. 8 words an i feel like i’m there ;-)
pass on a ‘hey’ to the aus crew. Already I’m enjoying your coverage 10 times more than the winter olympics.
James Hill
Well I am easily the most gullible person on the planet!
Penny
T-dawg, can’t believe you’ve landed already and are trashing brisbane from afar where it cannot defend itself. Feels like we just left you, take care…your townhouse seemed v. empty without you.
Ren
Heya timmy… see you in 2 weeks!
Ren
Oh and I’m sure this is probably the last thing on your mind, but just out of curiousity, is my site down?
Tim Lucas
Pete: glad I’m more entertaining the winter olympics. I haven’t yet attempted a triple flying back flip off the bar, but I’ll see what I can do.
Penny: Thanks penoí! The wherehouse is lucky to have you round to keep them company. We’ll have to combine forces whilst Al is away.
Ren: You’re not counting down by any chance? ;) If my brain wasn’t so incapacitated with free alcohol at the moment I’d be counting too!
Al
yeah poor old brissie…but i guess those born in the state are entitled to more bagging. hey top view!- but then again free alcohol voids all need for a pretty view.
Terence
